SEARCH Homeless Shelter
SEARCH Homeless Services helps thousands of men, women and children each year move from the streets, into jobs and safe, stable housing. SEARCH meets clients where they are and gets them back on their feet through services that engage, stabilize, educate, employ and house.
At SEARCH, each volunteer experience is a unique opportunity to get involved. Sample volunteer opportunities include: Conducting drives for needed items for our clients, asking your company to get involved at SEARCH for a day, riding once a month with SEARCH’s Mobile Outreach team, or helping clients complete enrollment paperwork.
Friends For Life Adoption & Rescue
Friends For Life is the only No-Kill, LEED-certified shelter in Texas. We provide free spay/neuter services to animals in low-income communities. Free behavioral services are offered, over 1 ton of food is distributed annually, and we offer spacious rooms for all our animals. Our goal is to make just the right human/animal match each time and get that forever fit. “Every Animal Matters” is not just our shelter slogan, it sums up our philosophy. We routinely accept, rehabilitate, medically treat and adopt into loving homes, animals on whom other groups have given up.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, and all of them make a true difference to the animals in our care. Help with writing, data entry, filing, reviewing adoption applications, conducting interviews, work directly with behaviorist and trainers to rehabilitate animals, care for daily needs of cats and dogs, work at our off-site mobile adoption locations, and more!
HALTER's mission is to use animals, especially miniature horses, to provide support and enhance the lives of others. This non-profit corporation was founded in August 2001 to train miniature horses as Pet Therapy animals for use by special needs children. HALTER actively participates in programs designed to meet the needs of all children to help them live fuller, happier lives.
HALTER also assists at-risk teenagers by offering opportunities to participate in training and riding programs. These programs improve self-confidence, while allowing the opportunity for the participants to help others. As an extension of the at-risk teen program, HALTER provides a supportive, constructive environment for teenagers with court appointed community service to complete their hours of obligation.
